The success of shopping apps....

Thousands of new shopping apps make an appearance each year, with nearly 50,000 being added in 2018 alone. But which shopping apps are currently leading the market?

At the top of the list is the shopping app claiming to make shopping fun - Wish. This highest ranking app allows customers to shop over 100 million items at very discounted prices and is not only ranked the top spot in the UK but also the USA, France and Canada.

In the 9th spot is the Moonpig app, which is no surprise with so many unable to celebrate their birthdays with their loved ones in lockdown. Thanks to Moonpig, their customers can still send cards and gifts to those they love.

Amongst the rest of the top ten are the obvious contenders, Amazon and eBay, as well as SHEIN, Wayfair, Wowcher and Shpock.

However apps aren't just for large, well known retail companies. There are many uses of an app for smaller companies too. Here are a few suggestions on how your company could benefit from having one.:

- Apps are an ideal way to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty

- Apps build a stronger relationship between sellers and consumers

- If your shop is currently closed or it is going to be difficult to socially isolate if you re-open, your customers can continue to shop - click and - collect - with easy access to view your products

- Customers can receive notifications about any special offers, events and new products.

- You can chat direct with customers without worrying about GDPR compliance

- They are cheaper than a website but get you online
